An excellent product, light and easy to use. the 1000 digital zoom is a very shaky and broken at full stretch but on a maximum of 40X it's a sharp clear image with exceptional definition. Hence HD, all together a good buy

I bought this camera and found it to be exactly as I expected with the bonus that it imported video to iMovie '08 without issue on my MacBook via USB2. On the box it says that you require iMovie '09, but as I have found '08 also works. The zoom is very smooth, and produces good results even when the 16x Optical zoom is combined with the Digital zoom to give a combined 40x zoom (although it does go up to 1000x which I've not tried yet).
Camera is very compact, light and charges in around 1.5 hours. Touch screen is generally very responsive, and easy to navigate.
There are only 2 minor downsides that I have noticed so far: 1) some visible noise (i.e. pixelation) when used in low light conditions, but the camera light goes some way to resolve this, 2) small moveable plastic flap has to be moved every time a component or USB cable is plugged in.

I won't repeat technical specification for this as it is easily available and described better than I could. This is small and light and fits in the palm of the hand. This is good but if you have large hands you will need to get used to handling this accurately. The zoom lever needs a bit of finger contortions to operate but something I am sure I will get used to in time. I like the battery compartment under the flip screen and not hanging at the back as with most camcorders. Yet strangely, there is something uncouth about the shape of the whole thing. It is probably the rectangular shape which stops it being visibly aesthetic with smooth flows of shape. Still, this is personal preference and could mean nothing to another person.
The touchscreen is very responsive, the menu system is intuitive and simple and most important of all the pictures are clear with vibrant colours.
To connect properlly to a HD TV, needs an HDMI cable. It would have been a nice and kind gesture by Panasonic to include one but they don't.
Great camcorder. Design okay.
