Good keypad, room for improvement February 26, 2010

I've had my keypad for about a month and it really is useful when browsing the web and in text chat. I couldn't manage without it, but I do feel that Sony could have given us more for the money. The keys are on the small side and at first i kept pressing multiple keys by mistake. I don't have large hands so i can imagine someone who does might want to stay clear of this product. Also, you need to have a light source around because the keys aren't backlit. Finally, the keypad isn't that well integrated into the messaging system and the browser. Sometimes the text input menu pops up, sometimes it doesn't, and there is no real reason for it to pop up when you're using a keypad. Oh and don't expect to ever use the trackpad functionality, it doesn't really work, the cursor jumps around a lot.
On the plus side the keypad is well built and it fits well on the sixaxis. It does add a little bit of weight but i quickly got used to it. The "passthrough" for the PS button and start/select work ok but might need a firmer press sometimes. Also, the battery lasts a very long time.

Very Useful.
Fits onto the PS3 Controller well, But i do prefer to use it without being fitted onto my joypad. Battery life is brilliant, I think i've charged it once since i've had it, and i've had it now about 3 months!
Definately convenient for when you need to send a message or use text.. much faster than using the default setting keyboard, from using a pc/laptop keyboard you may find typing on the PS3 keypad a little hard at first with the keys being so small, but you adapt to that quickly.
I wouldnt recommend it to anyone with big hands such as a man they would definately struggle with it.
Anyone else = Recommended.

I haven't recharged in 4 weeks and counting. I use the keypad basically everyday for internet browsing and @home whenever I'm on there.. which is not often to be honest. So it stores a lot of charge, which is great.
Typing with it is easy too. Don't expect to type as fast as you do on a keyboard though, but once you get the hang of it.. you can type almost as fast.
It's light, so it doesn't add too much weight to the controller.. and the attachment to the controller is essential. It's like its naturally part of the controller.
The only gripe I have with it is the pointless browser mode. On this keypad when you switch modes, glide your finger on the keys so the pointer on screen moves with it too. It's pointless because you can browse with the left analog stick too.. which is much less hassle free than switching modes all the time between browsing and typing. They could have made this product cheaper by not including that browser mode.
