Canon G9 review May 18, 2010 J. H. Earp (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'll make this short and sweet as the other reviews have all the technical stuff. If you dont want to carry a heavy DSLR around with you all day and a bag full of lenses BUT do want top quality digital photos then get a Canon G9 - there are newer models out - Canon G10 and G11 but these are overpriced and slightly larger. You can get a G9 at a very reasonable price if you shop around - and since buying mine I dont think i've used my Nikon D300 at all.
Excellent all-in-one semi-pro camera January 11, 2010 G. CAVENEY (Bristol, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I asked around about the best digital camera for around 200-300 quid. Several people in the know suggested the Canon G series as the best value for money and best functionality. The G9 doesn't disappoint. Excellent features, easy to use, great zoom, long battery life and superb quality. Plus it does all sorts of handy things and it's easy to figure out how it all works. It feels solid and weighty, but in a good way - giving you confidence it's a well-built piece of kit for reliable use. I'd recommend it to anyone.
brill January 4, 2010 K. Russell (england) super camera , everything l nead is on this camera ,and l can shoot in raw, on the downside you get a lot of noise over 400 speed settings , but overall a superb camera
Excellent little camera December 27, 2009 badknee (middle England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am quite a serious photographer, having developed my fist B&W films at the age of 5, a "long time ago" - just as colour film became popular!
I bought this camera for my daughter just before she gave birth to our grandson. The idea was she could get some decent photos of him growing up.
Well, its been superb for that, and its also got a lot more use all over the place. The start up time and shutter lag are pretty short, and the pictures are top notch. Thanks to the pixel count, and with a little unsharp masking before printing, the enlargements are spectacular.
She uses RAW mode, and has a good collection of photos for the family album that will stand the test of time. She has also had some success in the snow etc with manual control. You cannot do these things with those small shiny coloured cameras, but this is a little heavier than those.
This is much better than the normal compact "snap shooter" cameras - don't be fooled by its size - its a serious camera, but it is also easy to get good results if you dont want to get into the technical side.
Buy one!
Best non DSLR u could wish for December 26, 2009 David Santander (London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great camera, i've had it for just over a year now and it is still always next to my side... i Know that it might be a bit of the heavy side but it feels so much more like a real camaera compered to all those point and shots that you can get now adays... if ur going for something of good quality i would recomend this camera... it's lasted me over a year and still works even thought i have taken it to several different countries, went hicking with it, and even fell a coulple of times on top of it... from all that all it got was a small dent which i want to get fixed but it hasnt affected the camera at all... =P
