| Customer Reviews: Spy fire dart blaster February 23, 2010 Helen Billington (Fillongley, England) My 8 year old son saved up for this with his pocket money and was thrilled with the fast delivery from J.L.S. He felt he had got a substantial toy for the money too, as we did.
It seems quite a tough toy, and both he and his 6 year old brother have had a lot of fun setting traps and including it in their non-pc Army games. You can fire it from your hand or set it to go off remotely.
The darts travel quite a distance and the sounds generated do give some warning (too late to avoid getting hit though!). We've tried to instil a rule of setting it for below the waist targetting, as the speed of the darts would hurt if they hit the face.
All in all, a great choice which although not really educational, does allow for some team work and planning in the games!
Good fun for a little while but will gather dust over time January 7, 2010 The not so naked chef (Manchester, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 9 year old son got one of these for Christmas. I was expecting the power of the darts to be fairly poor but was very wrong. We had them firing across the lounge (5 meters) and still bouncing off the wall with quite a thwack! The remote trigger is a nice addition.
The fun element is that you can set it up somewhere, get the aiming right with a few test shots and then wait for a suitable victim to shoot at. Let's face it, the novelty of shooting at static targets with a blaster that's on fixed legs will soon run out and this seems a bit pointless. This must be designed for some sort of ambush attack which it's perfectly equipped for. Because of the power of the shots, I'm concerned that the fun will last up until someone gets hurt. It will then go on a shelf and probably stay there.
To get the most use and fun out of it, I would buy this as part of a set of spy toys so this would be one element of some serious 007 type infiltration of a well defended converted volcano or similar baddies hide out.
As far as educational value goes... It's a remote blaster, what do you expect? It may teach you to duck quickly but that's about it.
